Bob The Mover: Welland Moving Company

Forgotten Welland Moving Company
The moving date is fast approaching; suddenly you remember you’ve got a lot of things to do. You already have a plan in your head and maybe even on paper. You’ve got your Welland moving company already booked hopefully. It’s a hectic time.
Now during all this it’s easy to forget things. Here at Bob the mover, a certified Welland moving company, we want your move to be as easy as possible—so here’s a list of the most forgotten things that you can refresh yourself on before your move.

1. Cancel memberships

Depending on where you’re moving to, you may end up finding your gym membership or classes being a waste of money. First check in with any memberships you have about cancellation policies to avoid hidden fees. Make sure if you have any automatic monthly Amazon or other deliveries that you cancel them in advance as well or update your address. Unfortunately, most Welland movers are not going to go to your old house and pick up your packages every month.

2. Pack loose hardware and awkward items

You’ll need to leave a few things behind when selling a house, keys, locks, bathtubs, so on and so forth. Make sure you’re not leaving things behind that aren’t for the new homeowner—your hammer, screws, or important small objects that Welland movers won’t grab. Try to tape your screws and other fixtures to the item they belong to so you can avoid losing them during a move. Make sure you’ve left the garage door openers for the new owners; they tend to be upset when they’re not there.

3. Try to get free boxes

Boxes can be expensive new; no doubt about it. Check various online marketplaces (Facebook, Craigslist, Kijiji, etc) to see if anyone is giving them away. If that doesn’t work, try calling your local grocery stores or big box store. Generally, their boxes end up in recycling, so they’ll have no problem giving them away. As a last resort, contact your Welland moving company and see if they have any suggestions.

4. Collect personal records

Take any item that has contact information, your name, address, medical history, grocery receipts, etc. You don’t want to end up a victim of identity theft, so make sure all traces of you are taken on your person out of the house. Prescriptions, school degrees, and government ID are very important to grab. Make sure you also update your address with the post office as soon as possible. Welland movers prefer not to move these items just due to their importance. Plan!

5. Plan for the moving day

Sometimes moves end up very rushed, and a lot of last-minute tasks can build up and create a lot of stress. You tend to forget about this day because you’ve got your Welland movers lined up. People often forget about themselves in this process; make sure you’ve got an overnight bag packed—you likely won’t have the time to unpack the same day as your moving day. For other tips check out our blog on how to have a stress-free move. Make sure you have your own vehicle ready for transport; your Welland moving company likely won’t have room for you. If doing a long-haul move, make sure you have a company or person set up to move your vehicle/s.

These are just a few of the commonly forgotten things that happen during move. At Bob the Mover we recommend reading through as many of our posts as you can to help prepare you for your move. If you’re thinking of moving, contact Bob the Mover for a free in-home quote now.
